Presidential Inconsistency

Peter Wehner has written a gotcha column for Commentary. His topic is how POTUS justifies actions using public sentiment when it suits him, and ignores such sentiments when it doesn't suit him. The examples Wehner gives are very current.

At a recent news conference POTUS cited 80% of the public supporting Obama's choice of a mix of spending cuts and tax increases to lower the deficit. As noted on July 15 in a post entitled "A Disconnect," POTUS was wrong about public sentiment, only a third favor tax increases, not 80%. Nevertheless, he did endorse public sentiment as indicating what representative government should do.

Wehner proposes that, since polls show most people dislike Obamacare and want it repealed, POTUS should favor its repeal in order to follow public sentiment. Wanna bet POTUS feels free to ignore public sentiment concerning Obamacare? That's my guess.
