A thing many may not know: 4H is an instrumentality of the U.S. Government, run by USDA. They have a beautiful old conference center on Connecticut Avenue, in Washington, D.C.
Back in the day I attended a couple of USDA meetings there, at one of which I heard the now-mildly-infamous Earl Butz speak. BTW, Earl was an excellent after-dinner speaker.
