A Divisive Figure's Considerable Baggage

Dan Balz, senior correspondent of The Washington Post and one of our most astute political analysts, writes about the Hillary Clinton campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination.
There will be no new Hillary Clinton on the campaign trail beginning this coming week. She is a fully formed politician, with a lengthy résumé of accomplishments and considerable baggage from a lifetime of political battles.

She is a divisive and polarizing figure — not just because of her own history but because that is the nature of politics in this period of history.
Whether COTTonLINE will endorse the GOP nominee remains to be seen. One thing is certain, we will not endorse Ms. Clinton. She has been a failed Secretary of State, a senatorial nonentity. and a sketchy First Lady of both the nation and Arkansas.
