Weird Cognitive Science

There is good news for those of us who are circumferentially challenged. The Washington Post reports the results of a study of some 2 million subjects, appearing in the British medical journal The Lancet, which finds a fascinating tie between body mass and dementia.
Underweight people had a 34 percent higher risk of developing dementia than those of a normal weight, the study found, while the very obese had a 29 percent lower risk of becoming forgetful and confused and showing other signs of senility.
This takes nothing away from the risks to heart and stroke posed by obesity, but being a healthy old vegetable is worse IMHO. Hat tip to Instapundit for the link.
