Politico: W More Popular Than Obama

Politico reports the results of a new CNN/ORC poll which finds former President George W. Bush is more popular than President Obama. The data:
George W. Bush   - 52% favorable, 43% unfavorable
Barack H. Obama - 49% favorable, 49% unfavorable

When the same question was asked in 2014, the 43rd president polled at 46 percent favorability, continuing his steady increase in the public’s esteem since leaving office, when just 33 percent responded that way in February 2009.
Obama's numbers above are what Politico reports; when I visited the CNN/ORC website I discover those numbers but also that 45% approve and 52% disapprove of the job Obama is doing as President. In other words, 3% like Obama but don't approve of his performance in office - people are weird.

W is no better ex-president today than he was in 2009, his pluses and minuses in office remain the same.  He can thank Obama for lowering our expectations so much that by comparison W looks not bad.
