The first weekday after Christmas day, observed as a holiday on which postmen, errand boys, and servants of various kinds expect to receive a Christmas box.
As you can see, Boxing Day has nothing whatsoever to do with pugilism or fisticuffs. It denotes a definite sense of noblesse oblige and it’s appearance here reflects
COTTonLINE’s Anglophile bias.
