Border Control Gains Adherents

A new Pew Research Center poll shows Americans have become more interested in securing our borders against illegal immigrants, USA Today reports. In the past year, the proportion favoring securing the border has gone from 25% to 33% of respondents.

Over the same year the proportion favoring a path to citizenship for the undocumented dropped from 25% to 23%, and the proportion favoring a mix of both dropped from 50% to 41%.
The shift in views spans political leanings, as more Republicans, Democrats and independents favor focusing on border security.

In a separate report released Wednesday, Pew found that the number of undocumented immigrants living in the country remained at about 11.3 million in 2013, marking the fifth straight year that the estimate has remained stable.
Does a fear ISIS terrorists will enter via the immigrant stream contribute to this shift in opinion?
