Fear of Pre-Election Amnesty

Politico reports "More Senate Democrats urge Obama to delay immigration order." Man, oh, man, you have to love the cynicism of these guys and gals.

They want millions of illegal immigrants legalized, but fear Obama doing it before the election will hurt their chances of reelection. Saying as much makes clear they want it done after the election when they don't have to face the voters for another six years.

The article mentions Bill Nelson (D-FL), Al Franken (D-MN), and Angus King (I-ME) as among those asking for delay. You could probably add Mark Pryor (D-AR), Mary Landrieu (D-LA), Mark Begich (D-AK), Kay Hagen (D-NC), Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), Jeff Merkley (D-OR), and Mark Warner (D-VA) to that list. Three Marks, what's that about?

That a majority of voters in their home states oppose amnesty for illegals matters not a whit to these arrogant pols. They have the same voters-be-damned attitude toward amnesty they had toward Obamacare, and we know how that turned out.

On the other hand, acting before the election could help Mark Udall (D-CO), Colorado has a substantial voting bloc of Hispanics. "An yll wynde that blowth no man to good, men say." - John Heywood's Proverbs (1546).
