Demographics Are Not immutable

Josh Gerlernter writes in National Review that Hispanics will become undifferentiated Americans much as other groups thought unassimilable in past have become part of the American mainstream. As he notes, at times past Italians or Irish were reliable Democrat voters, now not so much.

He predicts the same will happen to Hispanics and I believe him. In Southern California, I grew up across the street from a Mexican-American family named Lopez who were as assimilated as can be.

I see no reason why more recent immigrants will not become, a couple of generations downstream, similarly undifferentiated. The burden of proof is on those who think otherwise.

With success many will come to resent giving away their hard-earned money to support those who cannot/will not earn their own living.
