I consider the media to be indispensable to democracy. That we need the media to hold people like me to account. I mean, power can be very addictive and it can be corrosive and it's important for the media to call to account people who abuse their power, whether it be here or elsewhere. That's the headline everybody is reporting. It's kind of hard to, you know, tell others to have an independent free press when we're not willing to have one ourselves.COTTonLINE concurs. A free press doing honest reporting, minus the bias, is essential to democracy.
It is very unfortunate we don't have a free press, as President Trump has noted repeatedly. What we have instead is a group of commentators doing agitprop for the Democrats, while demanding to be treated as actual journalists.
BTW, what we do at COTTonLINE is not reportage; it is commentary on (and, we hope, in) the right.
