Militarized Police Not the Issue

I've seen lots of critiques of the "militarized" police and SWAT units from sources both left and right. None of them seemed to be on target.

Rich Lowry writing on the topic for National Review does make sense to this observer. Take a look at his more measured response.

Instead of rioting, and in particular looting, the good citizens of Ferguson, MO, need to elect a new city government which will hire black police officers. As Nordlinger notes below, if the policeman who shot poor Michael Brown had been black, peace would have been preserved and no one outside the greater St. Louis area would have ever heard of it.
