The Letter to Iran

As you know, Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR, no relation) wrote a letter, signed by 47 Republican Senators, telling the rulers of Iran any agreement they make with the U.S. - if not ratified by the Senate - is not a treaty. It doesn't bind the next president, nor even this one.

The letter was a brief tutorial in U.S. law for those not raised therein, no insult implied or intended. Learning this, both the legacy media and the Democrats (but I repeat myself) went nuts, alleging treason.

According to a Reuters article carried by Yahoo News, so did the Iranians. They pay little attention to their own laws and presume our President can always get away with being a scofflaw too.

If Iran wanted to bind the U.S. to an agreement they would demand a treaty ratified by the Senate. Iran realizes they would hate the provisions of any treaty the Senate would endorse so...what now?

I predict Iran will strike a deal with Obama, short of a treaty, and then ignore their obligations therein while demanding we drop the economic sanctions. I further predict they'll get away with it while Obama gloats and takes a victory lap.

Neville Chamberlain, call your barrister. President Obama is infringing on your franchise.
