Hot Times in Guatemala

Exciting times in Guatemala, with virtually every politician under suspicion or indictment for corruption. For a left-wing (what else?) look at the situation see a story in The Nation.

Author Greg Grandin roots for the Eva Peron-like wife of a former president:

Sandra Torres (is) the wife of former center-left president Colom. As first lady, when Colom was president, the right hated Torres as much as they hated Colom, fearing she was using redistributionist policies to build a base among the rural disenfranchised.

If the elections do go forward, and Torres manages to get into the run-off, she’ll be the one to watch. 

Sounds like a perfect time to do your overseas investing someplace other than Guatemala.
