SF Analogy

Instapundit Glenn Reynolds reports an observation about Trump's ability to break the rules and prosper in spite of it, from the blog's comments section. The analogy was drawn by an obvious fan of the science fiction classics, in this case Isaac Asimov.

Trump was the Mule to Nate Silver’s Foundation.

Translation: the normal political rules don't apply to Trump because he isn't normal. He is thus unpredictable statistically; he's an outlier, sui generis, a black swan.
