Barone on Demographic Trends

Michael Barone, writing in the Wall Street Journal online, analyzes population trends within the U.S. These population movements have clear political implications, which he lays out in his normal clear fashion.

Barone finds that Americans are moving away from the biggest coastal cities and being replaced there by immigrants. The mobile Americans are relocating to non-coastal places with much less immigrant inflow.
