Podhoretz on the Politics of Immigration

John Podhoretz, writing in the New York Post online, says President Bush wants the immigration reform bill to pass but will be much better off if it does not. His prediction is that even if the bill passes in the Senate it will die in the House or in the House-Senate reconciliation process. He argues that almost no politicians will truly benefit from the bill's passage.

I hope he is right.
