Noonan on Reagan

Peggy Noonan, who writes for The Wall Street Journal, knows political speechwriting. She reminds us of why Reagan spoke so well:
In his farewell address he went out of his way to say he never thought of himself as a great communicator. He thought he simply communicated great things.
"Great things" are things your audience believes to be both true and important.
