Four days ago we linked to an article about the white working class. It noted 2/3 of the white working class (people without a 4-year college degree) live outside cities and their suburbs, and that 2/3 were the more conservative members of the group. As we know, conservatives are more likely to reside in small towns, exurbs, and rural areas.
Some conservatives paradoxically want to live in a city. For them, a USA Today article lists eleven cities of at least 250,000 that are more conservative than otherwise. The most conservative is Mesa, AZ, followed by Oklahoma City and Virginia Beach. The list also includes Colorado Springs, Jacksonville, FL, and Arlington, TX.
The nation's least conservative city is San Francisco, followed by Washington, DC, Seattle, and Boston. No surprises on either list.
