Wisdom from Winston

Winston Churchill, writing at the end of his 3 volume history of what we call World War I and he called The Great War:
The story of the human race is war. Except for brief and precarious interludes there has never been peace in the world.
The human penchant for battle is perhaps the primary accelerator of our remarkable evolution. We'd have evolved much more slowly if we'd gotten along with each other.

My source for the Churchill quote is a Roger Kimball column for PJ Media.
