On Tuesday I wrote about a Southwest Airlines flight from San Diego to Chicago diverting to Amarillo because of rowdy passengers. I speculated at the time they might be Christian Arabs, and I guessed Coptics.
I was right about them being Christian, wrong about Coptic; they are Chaldeans which is to say Roman Catholic Syrians. They were supposedly headed to Chicago to a convention. See a brief article in the Amarillo Globe News about this.
No terrorism was intended, apparently, but they may have been drunk and were certainly rude and nasty. It's easy to see how flight attendants could be confused about their intentions.
P.S. What is there about soccer that leads people to act like hooligans? Low-rent fans, is my guess.
