So the cynical take on Comey's actions is that he stalled an internal revolt by his statement last week, and now that it’s too late for any of the upset staffers to leak anything that will affect the election, he’s undone it.There's talk of a post-election firing of Comey by Obama. If it doesn't happen, perhaps continued employment is his quid pro quo for not admitting publicly he was ordered by Lynch to exonerate Hillary, or told she would never under any circumstances be indicted.
Is that too cynical? It’s 2016.
