It is reported that Musk claims to have spotted $100 billion in fraud and waste in the Medicare and Medicaid programs. I wish I thought it was an exaggeration.
Lots of unnecessary procedures and frivolous charges are submitted to the Feds. When my elderly mother was hospitalized prior to her death the hospital charged $175 a day for psychiatric services which they did not provide, but billed Medicare for nonetheless.
When we pointed this out to them, they replied "What do you care? You won't pay it, Medicare will. We bill all inpatients that fee." Hat tip to Lucianne.com for the link.
