Harry Potter Analyzed

J.K. Rowling's series of seven Harry Potter novels has stimulated much critical analysis. Norman Lebrecht has done a very decent look at the entire series for The Wall Street Journal.

He compares Rowling's work to that of Charles Dickens, noting similarities in their backgrounds and in their characters and settings. He also draws a few parallels with the Tom Sawyer books of Mark Twain.
