A lady of a certain age who writes whimsical columns for Power Line under the nom de plume of Ammo Grrrll, has a great thought about the white/nonwhite achievement GAP:

I have an idea. Since it's the GAP between white and minority students that you find so upsetting, why don't you just encourage the white students to do WORSE?

Why didn't I think of that? Perhaps because Kurt Vonnegut thought of it first.
