No Good Deed Goes Unpunished

There is a new ap that helps people avoid "sketchy" neighborhoods, places where one might experience threat. It has been denounced as racist. See a Power Line article on the subject.

A TV station sent a crew to interview people in a Washington neighborhood identified by the ap as sketchy, hoping to find people who were sore about it. While they were out doing interviews their van was broken into and most of their gear stolen.

Talk about a ringing endorsement for the ap, you can't buy advertising that good. I avoid cities, which also solves the problem.
