Insights happen at odd times, like when you're pouring a soft drink. At least that's what I was doing when it hit me that perhaps Hillary Clinton is a Bob Dole-type candidate.
Let me define my terms, Bob Dole-type candidates are party stalwarts who have earned a shot at POTUS, even though they are not terribly effective campaigners. Everybody says Hillary is ho-hum on the stump, yet she awaits coronation in Philly.
That was Bob's story, too, and we all know what happened to him come November - disaster. Bob was a more-than-competent Senator, a wounded war veteran, and a decent man but he was about as exciting as watching paint dry.
Hillary has that same blandness, a sort of charisma deficit. It could easily make getting elected difficult when up against a showman like Trump.
