Friedman: Two Sucker Bets

I often don't agree with Tom Friedman, never about domestic politics. On the other hand, he sometimes has decent insights about what happens in the Islamic world. Go see his New York Times column about how we got pulled into sucker bets in Iraq and Afghanistan when the real problems were in adjacent Saudi Arabia and Pakistan respectively.

He may be right, or wrong, but is certainly interesting. I find his problem diagnoses more persuasive than his prescriptions for cure, see what you think.
