Someone set off a firecracker near the motorcade of Iran's President Ahmadinejad. President Ahmadinejad claimed "Stupid Zionists have hired mercenaries to assassinate me." The source is this Agence France Presse article on the Yahoo News site.
That claim makes him look even more foolish than normal. If Zionists (i.e., the Mossad) had tried to assassinate Ahmadinejad, he would be dead. I suppose they don't assassinate him for fear of making him a martyr.
