Travel Blogging II

Helsinki, Finland: This is an amazing country, very unusual in this part of the world. How so, I imagine you asking. My answer, so much here is NEW, built recently

Driving in from the airport, we didn't see any of the old European architecture until we got quite close to the harbor. That's where old town Helsinki lives. Everything else appears to have been built in the last twenty years.

Finish is not an Indo-European language, it's closely related to Estonian and more distantly related to Magyar, the Hungarian language. Because few outsiders speak Finish, most Finns speak English. Many signs are in English as well, particularly those denoting what business a firm is in.

The taxi we used from the airport was a Skoda, a Czech brand never imported to the States commercially. It was a nice vehicle, I wonder why they've never distributed it back home?

We plan to spend tomorrow getting over jet lag, or at least making a start on that process.
