Rubio Won't Overturn Obama on Amnesty

Breitbart Big Government reports presidential hopeful Marco Rubio told interviewer Jorge Ramos of the Hispanic channel Univision that, as president, he would not cancel Obama's executive order giving effective amnesty to DREAMers. Link to a YouTube video of the interview, in English, is here if you'd like to watch him say it.

As we all know, politicians will say what they need to say to get elected, so perhaps we shouldn't put too much stock in this comment. On the other hand, faced with a choice between Rubio and someone whose stated views on illegal immigration are more like your own, it becomes a factor.

Perhaps we in the blogosphere can pressure Rubio to retract that comment, or explain how he misunderstood the question or misstated his position. He wouldn't be the first (nor the last) politician to flip-flop when it became clear the electorate wanted something at odds with his prior position.

See a Bloomberg article which looks at the issue in some detail and lists influential conservatives who've expressed concern about Rubio's immigration stance.
