The Canadian province Alberta voted to stay in Canada, roughly 3/4 voting “stay.” Still, can you imagine any US state in which 1/4 would vote to leave the US? Off hand, I cannot.
At least I cannot as things now stand. Can I imagine scenarios in which a US state would majority vote to secede? Yes, although none seem at all likely now.
Some are imagining it occurring during the last two years of Trump’s second term, but I find that a stretch. If Democrat governors try to defy the federal government, and FedGov responds with force, maybe we could see separatism. How did we let ourselves get here anyway?
