Foot-Shooting Time

'Marvelous' do-gooders have been busy raising the minimum wage. Each such raise makes more routine jobs economic to automate. This isn't rocket science, just basic microeconomics.

Today Drudge Report links to a Business Insider article about Walmart automating inventory checking in their 190 distribution warehouses. That article has links to another Business Insider article about robot waiters at Pizza Hut restaurants in Asia. And another to a video of robot bartenders dispensing drinks on Royal Caribbean's new Harmony of the Seas mega-cruise ship.

Once jobs are replaced by "smart" machines, they never come back. That's a whole bunch of additional teenagers who will be unemployed and get in trouble for lack of something productive to do. Are we sure this is the right direction in which to go?
