Maryville, TN, is our current locale, we’re visiting friends who moved here from CA about 27 years ago, anticipating by a couple of decades the current bunch of bummed Californians who are escaping Gruesome Newsom’s “Golden Gutter.”
Our host grew up here, before traveling the nation as a corporate tech troubleshooter. Our hostess was a college chum of the other DrC in the Bay Area where our hosts later met and married. Like us, they are long retired. We’re here for the next couple of days and fly home to NV on Sunday.
Looking back the cruise was uneventful but pleasant. We experienced good food, good weather, so-so musical ‘entertainment,’ a good lecturer, and a spectacular suite for a cabin.
Tennessee is a beautiful place, conditions for deciduous trees must be nearly perfect. It is basically a gigantic forest interrupted here and there by a road, a plowed field, a river, or a village. The terrain isn’t flat, but the rounded hills are not tall nor the valleys deep. It recently joined the short list of states levying no state income tax.
