A Quiet Sun

Ask yourself, which of the following is more likely to impact the world's weather and/or climate?
  1. Manmade greenhouse gas emissions.
  2. Output variations in the gigantic thermonuclear furnace - our sun - around which the earth orbits, which warms and lights our days and energizes directly and indirectly all life on earth.
A moment's reflection should show you the obvious answer is (2), the sun. See an article at Vencore Weather which describes our sun showing signs of going into one of its occasional cooling phases, characterized by lower-than-normal sunspot activity. Hat tip to Drudge Report for the link.

It may be the case that greenhouse gases are all that prevents a serious cooling spell or ice age. We really have very incomplete knowledge of the total set of interacting factors, their relationships to each other, and the relative strength of each. And we can't let our lack of understanding paralyze us into the immobility climate alarmists advocate. Life goes on.
