analysis about the impact of the race issue in this presidential contest. He invokes the work of Shelby Steele who has written well-regarded books about race relations in the U.S. He says:
It seems clear, therefore, that the race card has become a permanent part of Obama's hand, a wild card to be played whenever the spirit, or the circumstances, so moves him.
