I keep seeing articles which observe with shock that President Obama is no friend of Israel. What I don't understand is the shock.
How could anybody have believed a President with the middle name of Hussein would be a friend of Israel? That is like believing a guy named Billy Bob would drive a Prius, hate country music or be a vegan. The technical term is "counterintuitive." Colloquially, it just doesn't make sense.
Our young President lived in Indonesia, where he attended school as Barry Soetoro, a Muslim. Nevertheless he got the votes of most American Jews, normally strong supporters of Israel.
Now that is counterintuitive.
