It is a gray, rainy day in the WY Rockies. This afternoon, shortly after lunch, there was a "convention" of deer in our backyard. There were two does, each with a set of twin fawns, plus a stray fawn for a total of seven deer. Even for our corner of the aspen forest, that is unusual.
As I've noted before, our 'landscaping' is natural forest understory, kept back from the house a reasonable distance. Thus, the deer are welcome to eat it. It is healthy for them and they do it no damage.
We view that as a win-win-win. They eat well, the forest thrives, and we get to watch some of nature's most graceful creatures at somewhat close range, without making pets of them. Even so, today was a bonus.
Later ... The other Drs has photos of the deer at her blog. As you may have guessed, she is our photographer.
