Decades ago Jesse Jackson memorably called New York City “Hymietown.” While he meant it as a slur, he wasn’t far wrong. Wikipedia says NYC has the largest Jewish population of any city in the world.
So how come we keep seeing stories like the following two from the New York Post? In the first, masked anti-Israel protestors take over a subway car and demand any Jews disembark pronto. In the second, the homes of the Jewish board members and director of the Brooklyn museum have their homes vandalized.
Haven’t the city’s 1.6 million Jews enough political clout to get this sort of nonsense shut down? A little group solidarity would go a long way in this instance. Mayors Koch or Giuliani wouldn’t have put up with it for a minute.
