Tomorrow is the 80th anniversary of the D Day landings on the Normandy coast. US, UK, and Canadian troops went ashore and began the fight across France and the Low Countries toward Nazi Germany.
The DrsC have visited the Normandy coast battlefields and seen the difficulties those troops faced. It is a visit worth making and the French have an excellent museum nearby.
While in the neighborhood, go visit the Bayeux tapestries which commemorate another amphibious landing. This one in 1066 C.E. with the Normans successfully invading England.
