A Vox writer name Zack Beauchamp makes nine predictions about the second Trump presidency. I list them for you and give you my evaluation of each. Beauchamp predicts:
1) Trump will attempt a purge of the federal civil service.
2) Internal conflict will be a major problem for the Trump administration on most policy issues.
3) The fate of the tariffs will be a bellwether for these fights — but I’d expect the pro-tariff side to win.
4) So too will Trump’s approach to China — and I’d expect hawkishness.
5) Elon Musk will prove less important than he seems.
6) But the superrich as a class will prove more important than they seem.
7) The GOP anti-corporate turn is likely to peter out.
8) But the war on “wokeness” will persist.
9) So will support for Israel.
I agree with Nos. 1, 3, 4, and 9. No. 7 will only happen if 8 is successful, which looks likely. I think the jury is still out on Nos. 2, 5, and 6.
In No. 2 it isn't clear if "internal" means within the White House or within the Republican Party. He experienced 2 in his staff in his first term. If he learned his lesson then, he will squash it immediately in his second term.
Conflict with Republican senators is another issue entirely, they are hard to muscle. Nos. 5 and 6 will be "eye of the beholder" calls, not terribly important either way.
Don't you find it odd no predictions deal with the border and deportation of illegals, or with Ukraine? Immigration is his signature issue, after all. Maybe Beauchamp takes it as a given.
