Crying for Argentina

Periodically, COTTonLINE takes a look at the current situation in Argentina. We normally discover the locals have continued to screw up a wonderful country, as this Bloomberg story shows.

Argentina is a country that has much in common with California, which is to say a wonderful set of real estate being destroyed by its malign political system. It has a largely benign climate, lots of good farm land, natural harbors, and a largely ethnic European population.

Argentina suffers from a political climate in which its voters demand more from the government than they are willing to pay for in taxes. So inflation goes on and on as the government prints money, which becomes worth less while you watch.

As tourists there, our group's guide told us he absolutely demanded his salary in U.S. dollars, and stored what he did not spend out of the country where the government couldn't get their hands on it.
