Bombings and shootings in Sweden? Yes, indeed, and in some quantity, too. Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson has asked the army to assist the police in trying to regain order in those parts of the country overrun by Middle East and North African immigrant refugees. Spiked has the story.
In massive virtue signaling Sweden took in large numbers of these individuals but then did a really poor job of integrating them into its society. Thus many are unemployed and their idle hands quite naturally become the devil's playthings.
Gangs fight other gangs with homemade bombs, hand grenades, and guns. Substantial parts of its larger cities have become no-go zones for the police.
The former prime minister, Magdalena Andersson of the Social Democratic Party, made similar comments to Kristersson’s. For too long, she said in April last year, we’ve ignored the fact that there are now ‘parallel societies in Sweden’ and that ‘integration has been too poor at the same time as we have had large [amounts of] immigration’. On Sweden’s gang and Islamism problems, she uttered these prophetic words: ‘We live in the same country but in completely different realities.’
No kidding. Homogeneous societies import large numbers of people from quite different cultures and chaos ensues. Lacking a homegrown criminal class, the Swedes imported one and aren't loving how it's working out.
Prime Minister Viktor Orbán of Hungary, chose to keep the refugees out of his country. He is looking quite prescient as seen in the rear view mirror of hindsight.
Meanwhile, President Biden is joyfully making the same mistake Sweden made, with his wide-open border.
