We are now witnessing something like the retribalization of the world: a violent turn against Western liberalism and its tradition of rationality, respect for individual rights, and recognition of a common good that transcends the accidents of ethnic and racial identity.

If Kimball is correct, don't be surprised if the majority - observing minorities becoming tribal - does so as well. Imagine how badly that can turn out for minorities. To sow the wind is to reap the whirlwind.
