I had a weird insight, while reading about how President Joe Biden has been claiming VP Kamala Harris was a full partner in his policies. He, and his lackey KJP, harping on Harris' partnership complicates her ability to chart a separate path unburdened by the Biden history.
My insight was this: Joe Biden will feel vindicated if Kamala does not win in November. It will prove she had no better chance than he did, was no improvement over him, and that they shouldn't have elbowed him out of the race. It will be egg on the faces of Pelosi and Obama, among others involved in his ouster.
I will be very surprised if this thought has not occurred to our lame-duck President. Whether he is acting on it is anybody's guess.
