For some months now, the other DrC has been asking if an EV runs out of power, is there some way we can bring it "a bucket of electricity?" She meant in the same sense we can bring an out-of-fuel ICE vehicle a gallon or two of fuel.
Upon further reflection, I see that this was likely the stimulus for what I wrote about "battery trailers" below. A battery trailer is the functional equivalent of a container holding 20-30 gallons of petroleum-based fuel, although it is quite different in physical appearance, cost, etc.
It was kind of her to say what I wrote resembled what the inventor of FedEx wrote in his doctoral dissertation - the prospectus for a new industry. Maybe so but, twenty years into retirement, I won't be the one to make it happen as he did.
