Review: A Good Girl's Guide to Murder

The DrsC rarely catch a trend as it begins. We are either a couple of years ahead of the trend, or catch on several years after it peaks.

In the past week we broke the above mold. We actually binge watched (over 2 nights) the 6 episode BBC-made YA mystery series A Good Girl's Guide to Murder as it is peaking on Netflix. What pulled us in was its star Emma Myers who previously played the werewolf roommate Enid in super-hit Wednesday.

It's unusual for Brits to cast an American actress in a starring role. The other casting is super-woke with mixed race affairs and marriages and LGBTQ+ characters. There is a bit of rough language, plus drug knowledge and usage is taken perhaps too much for granted.

If you can get past that, it is a nice little mystery with (mostly) likable characters, set in a small English market town. Emma Myers plays Pippa, who is more serious than bubbly Enid, and she does a good job.

Given this series' popularity, a sequel is a distinct possibility as the novel's author Holly Jackson has written 2-3 more books featuring the adventures of Pippa.
