Pundits claim the VP choice Harris is to make today has boiled down to Gov. Shapiro of PA and Gov. Walz of MN. Shapiro volunteered in Israel as a collegian and is Jewish. He is thought to be too pro-Israel, but is loved in PA. Walz doesn't have the pro-Israel problem but might not be able to carry PA.
PA has 19 electoral college votes, MI has 15. MI has a large immigrant Arab population, some serious fraction of which can legally vote, and most of which is pro-Gaza. There are varying numbers of pro-Gaza votes in other states. Apparently PA has few. Harris needs to carry both. Who will she choose?
The guys at Power Line think Walz is a putz, he is very liberal. I don't hear that knock on Shapiro. Harris is very liberal, though trying to dial it back some to get elected. Whoever she chooses will be seen as the wrong choice by some in her party.
I'm going to guess she goes with Walz. We'll know later today if I guessed right.
