Hope for Portland?

Writing for City Journal, Michael J. Totten summarizes a variety of small signs that Portland, recently the pit toilet of the woke universe, may be starting to change course. Even hyper-woke Oregon may have discovered there is a limit to the degree of degradation it can tolerate. Who would have guessed?

That suggests there may eventually be hope for San Francisco. Perhaps San Fran, like an addict, will eventually "hit bottom" and realize it has to get clean or die.

In SF's case getting clean is no metaphor, "clean" is literally what is needed. The "small signs" haven't yet appeared in SF.

Or it can become another Detroit. It can end up looking like a war zone, with abandoned houses, burned out blocks, and hollow-eyed, defeated people squatting in the ruins.  ABC News in SF reports

ABC7 News Data Analysts looked at cities nationwide and found San Francisco ranked last out of 63 cities' downtown recoveries.
