Data on Who Is Moving Where

When the great exodus from blue states first caught the public attention, some pundits believed the emigrants would turn red states purple or even blue. Apparently that is not what is happening.

Why would a flaming liberal move to a red state? Only if their job moved there, their alternative was unemployment, and maybe not even then.

Progressives, if they move, go to states where their kind of politics has a chance - Colorado and Washington come to mind. My conservative cousins resident in CO since 1950 hate what has happened politically to their now-blue state.

On the other hand, my shirttail relatives who moved to Idaho from CA recently are Republicans, and evangelical too. Fox News reports the Idaho data.

Data published by the Idaho Secretary of State’s office shows that out of the nearly 119,000 people who recently moved to the state, 65% registered as Republicans, compared to just 12% registering as Democrats.

The Idaho data, however, show right-leaning voters from blue states are fleeing to a state with similar politics. Idaho Republicans control the state’s offices of the governor, secretary of state, and both chambers of the state legislature.

Out of the nearly 40,000 people who left California for Idaho, a whopping 75% registered as Republicans, the data reviewed by Fox News Digital show. Only 10% of the California pool registered as Democrats, 14% as unaffiliated and 2% as "other."

Maybe Instapundit's proposed "Welcome Wagon" for new arrivals from blue states isn't needed after all.
